Because according to the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC), which had praised the country's decision to resume with the bookmakers, the entity asked the Scottish government that the casinos could also return to activities, since the sector is currently suspended in some locations in Scotland.
The casinos were closed from March until August 24, but all closed again on October 10. The restrictions were strict in central Scotland. Meanwhile, BGC CEO Michael Dugher commented on the news: "It’s great news for staff and customers that betting shops can open their doors again. They have introduced a range of anti-COVID measures, including Perspex screens, hand sanitizers and strict social distancing rules, so they are a safe environment for people to work and enjoy a bet". The economic contribution betting shops – and casinos – make in terms of tax paid to the Treasury, as well as the jobs they provide, will be vital as the UK recovers from the impact of the pandemic."
