France sets date for casinos to reopen
With a new security protocol and after the second national shutdown due to Covid-19, France sets a date for the reopening of casinos in the country. According to information from the Casinos de France union, the country's casinos are expected to reopen from December 15th.
This is France's second national lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has lasted since October 30. Thus, in this shutdown only essential stores were allowed to operate. Since then, casinos, bookmakers, bingo halls and other gambling facilities have had to close.
Before the second lockdown, there were already strict health and safety protocols, but now they will have to be even more so. In addition, the Casinos de France union said that casinos are prepared to go "even further in protecting customers and employees" regarding the first quarantine moment.
In addition to capacity restrictions at locations, casinos will require mandatory registration for the monitoring and tracking of cases.
The lockdown have had major negative impacts on French industry, which represented 15 thousand direct jobs and 45 thousand indirect jobs, as the entity informed.
In addition, the Casinos de France union warned that during the lockdown, the use of online operators without a license to operate increased, thus leaving customers more vulnerable to scams and without regulation of responsible gambling.
France Galop had recently predicted that if the closure continued, it would cost the French segment approximately € 30 million.
The French horse racing regulator attributes this loss to the closing of the bookmakers, as the races continued during the second stoppage of activities in the country.
